On September 2, 2026, the Munich newspapers tz and Münchner Merkur dedicated an entire medical page to the topic of bone cancer. The article told the story of a father who was diagnosed with an atypical Ewing sarcoma in his lower leg in 2021. At the TUM University Hospital rechts der Isar, his leg was saved because the medical team used callus distraction to regenerate his own bone. Today, he is back to cycling.
The report also highlights what's missing: more research and a stronger lobby for sarcoma patients. That's precisely why we exist, and both newspapers present our work in a dedicated box. Our Chairman, Bastian Schwarz, himself affected, describes the core of our work: "We connect patients and their families so that no one is left alone with their diagnosis." Our funded project, financed by donations, is also presented. Research funding, the 1st Munich Sarcoma Patient Day on September 18th in room TranslaTUM and our charity event BEWEG WAS! on September 19th.
Participation in the patient day is free of charge, the Registration takes place via our website.
